In Their Own Words

3 October 2001

This is the section where some of our favorite authors will share with us (and you) their favorite stories from among their own work. The lovely and talented Pix mentioned this idea to me in an e-mail, saying how she thought it might be an interesting contrast with the typical recommendations lists so prevalent on fan fic websites.

I, of course, immediately wondered the same thing, and so, here we are. This will be a weekly feature, with past Authors' Picks being archived on a page called "From the Desk of..."

So, let us begin...

It's the Cult Maven, aka, Krissy's turn. Krissy, the Pink Bunney, is well-known for her love of Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Riley. Click on the name of the story within the text below if you'd like to read it.

Krissy says...

When Jen asked me to write a paragraph or two about which of my own stories was my favorite, I thought it would be easier than this. My first thought was "Once Upon A Wish", of which, at a current 23 chapters, I am understandably proud. But, it's not finished. Yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed. So, I gave it some further thought and decided on "Five Babies".

"Five Babies" was written as an answer to a challenge on the BuffyRileyFanfic list, which eventually birthed the Finnatics.com archive. "Five Babies" was also my first Riley story and is told from his POV as he waits by Buffy's bedside after the loss of their fifth pregnancy. It's painfully sad, yet there is a moment of hope at the end, hope that Buffy and Riley's love will be strong enough to withstand any tragedy. Bear in mind, this story was written in Season Four, long before Riley made a liar out of me and Buffy proved that she couldn't weather "any" tragedy. Silly kids.

So there you have it — Krissy, in her own words...
