He lies in a hospital bed, listening as the man next to him has visitor after visitor, an endless succession of redheads who alternately hug and scold, cry and laugh.
No one visits him. No one wants a werewolf. He wishes he were dead, doesn't understand why they didn't kill him, why they saved him.
The endless holiday cheer mocks him. He'll never have a happy Christmas again.
Then a gaunt, shabby man strolls over, shows him a life of warmth and friendship is still possible. Years later, he realizes Christmas is about hope, the best gift he's ever received.
