Summary: "This is Donna, and this is Sam."
Notes: Written for arianamama, who asked about Donna/Sam
Date: February 14, 2005
He doesn't suspect. Or, maybe he does, but he doesn't believe what the twist in his gut and the prickle of his skin is telling him, because this is Donna, and this is Sam, and they wouldn't do that to him.
So when he finally sees them, Sam's inkstained fingers tangled in Donna's long, gold hair, it feels like being shot all over again -- a sharp searing pain in his chest and the utter inability to breathe for the long moment while Sam's mouth covers Donna's and she presses herself against him, oblivious to the fact that he's standing three feet away, watching.
He puts a hand to his chest and wheezes, trying to force the air into his lungs, and they break apart, startled.
Sam says, "Hey," and Donna says, "Josh?"
And all Josh can say is, "Oh. Okay," as everything clicks into place.
Because they were his and now they're each other's and he doesn't belong. And he knows he should be glad, but he can't feel his fingers, so he wanders back out of the parking garage and walks home in a daze.
