Call Waiting

Anya

“Coffee?”

“Yes, please.” Anya flicked through the newspaper.

Xander carried a tray to the table, setting it down with a flourish. “Here you go, madame – coffee, toast, chocolate eggs to celebrate the occasion, and the world-famous Pancakes á la Xander, just the way you like ‘em.”

“Thanks!” she grinned. She began to put the paper down, then froze as something caught her eye. “ ‘You will receive an interesting employment offer today’… hmm.” She frowned in thought.

“Aren’t you happy at the Magic Box?”

“Well, yes, but there might be something out there with more money.”

Someone knocked on the door. Anya exchanged glances with Xander, then walked over and opened it.

“Gahhhh!” she screeched, stumbling backwards. It was a giant bunny rabbit.

A giant bunny rabbit… with shoes, a basket over one paw, and a definite limp.

Xander started to laugh.

The rabbit leaned on the doorframe, exhausted. “You’ve got to help me,” he panted. “I fell over. I can’t finish my rounds. Can you… please…”

He was cut off as Anya, shuddering, slammed the door in his face. "NOT... LIKELY!"
