Some
writers confuse authenticity, which they ought always to aim at, with
originality, which they should never bother about.
What's New? June 2001
27 June 2001 Big
news! We are very pleased to announce a new feature here at Unfit
for Society, called In Their Own Words.
Once a week, one of our favorite fanfic authors will share with us
which of their own stories is their favorite, and why, including
handy-dandy links to the stories. In addition, we'll keep these mini-interviews
archived, and compile a list of "authors' picks" on a page we're calling
From the Desk of... In other news, Pete has added a couple of stories to his page. Promises is his attempt to deliver the angst that Jen craves so very much, and is not to be read by those expecting his usual brand of mush. Addrilanne is a new ongoing story wherein Xander is the only Scooby who can save the day, on account of he's a guy. He's also naked, which should be appealing to all you Xanderistas out there. You know who you are.
26 June 2001 Hi! It's Victoria. Corrected a couple of X-Men Links for sites that have moved. Added a few new recommendations - especially in the Homicide section. On my site, I added Like Water, a brief meditation on the effect one woman can have on those around her. Also, we've added the Buffysearch.com feature, and a Rate It! button. Please be kind if you rate us. We've worked hard, but none of us is graphically inclined. <g> We're more about substance than style. Not that we don't have style...
24 June 2001 Bunch of new Links added this morning. We've split them out by fandom now, like the recommendations, so you'll be able to find what you're looking for more quickly, we hope. If anyone has any good links that we're missing, please, let us know. Email is a wonderful thing. <g>
21 June 2001 Victoria here. I've added a bunch of stuff to The Muse's Fool: The Mutant Bride - the X-Crew take on the Fairy Tale Classic; Should Have Taken a Chance, in which serious thoughts are had at an engagement party; Only Human, which is my first real Homicide fic (does the crossover count?)! Mikey and Frank have a chat; and Empty - the prequel to Alive and Dying. Also, on a formatting note, I've split the Stories Index into two indexes: X-Men Stories and Other Stories.
19 June 2001 Hey all, it's Victoria. I've added Insomnia -- Rogue can't sleep, but she finds a cure. We've also got some new recommendations for you and a new link or two. We've also added some information on ratings and the mailing list FAQ.
14 June 2001 Hey all, it's Victoria. I've added Never Meant (yeah, Logan's a putz) and Alive and Dying (very dark Xander/Angel fic) to The Muse's Fool. I've also added a link or two there. We've also got some new recommendations for you and a new link or two.
10 June 2001 Jen has added some new fic to Yasminke's Reverie - Reunion, in which an old friend visits Wesley, and Chapters 1-3 of her as yet unnamed novel. It begins with the Prologue, and is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Have I ever steered you wrong? The other big news - we've got a mailing list now! Whoo-wee, Maw! We're moving on up! Can you believe it?! Click here for more information, or use that lovely button on the front page to subscribe. All the fic on this site is there, plus if you join, you'll get new stuff before it gets here. And it's absolutely free! Also, we've updated the links and the resources page, and added a recommendation or two. In addition, I've updated the links page on The Muse's Fool and added a couple of affiliates.
8 June 2001 We've added a number of new story recommendations and updated the links.
4 June 2001 Meg's been a busy little bee. She's added the following stories to Legendary Blather: Knock Knock, an original fic; in the Buffy area, she's got The Anti-Mary Sues, Call Waiting Eight - it's Tara's turn, Call Waiting Nine - in which we learn that there really is something about the Summers women, and No Time Like the Present, some sweet Giles mush. Meg, being versatile also writes Trek fic, and she's added Jolly Good Fellows - Spock and McCoy doing what they do best [and no, it's not slashy], and Learning to Breed, which you should just read. She also dips into the X-Men fandom, and so go read Lovesick, which is some primo Jean/Scott mush. In other news, we've added a couple of new story recommendations and updated the links.
1 June 2001 Can you believe it's June already? I can't. I added Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, an L/J fic (yes, you read that correctly. I, Victoria P., diehard Logan/Rogue shipper, have written a non-evil Logan/Jean fic) based on the song by Meat Loaf that I just couldn't get out of my head. Now that I've done it, I'll never have to do it again, right? *g*
